This sencha is made from the Meiryoku cultivar, a rare variety you won't find in most Japanese green teas.Ā It immediately stood out to us as something special.
Aroma vs. flavour:Ā open the bag and you'll notice a bold, spicy black-pepper aroma ā but don't let that surprise you. The taste itself is completely different: gentle, soothing, and oatmeal-like, with none of the spice from the aroma.
Grown with care by two sisters on their JAS certified organic farm in Kirishima, this tea won theĀ Fine Product Award at the 2021 Nihoncha AwardĀ ā and remains a standout at a very approachable price.
